The City of East Wenatchee and the Douglas County Commissioners have developed an Interlocal Agreement Annexation (ILA) using the process in RCW 35A.14.296A, created by the state legislature in 2020 as an alternative method of annexation that stresses coordination and cooperation between agencies.

The annexation is proposed to be completed by June 30, 2022.

There are 4 areas proposed for annexation (A-D). There are 3 areas north of the City and a large area to the south. The North-South Annexation Map shows the location of all 4 areas. For more detail regarding the individual areas, maps for each area can be viewed in the second set of links.

When an annexation occurs, the City takes over many services that are currently being offered by Douglas County departments. However, there are several services that will not change. On March 17, 2022, a flyer was sent to property owners and residents in the areas explaining the changes in services. To read that flyer, please use the following link: North-South Annexation Fact Sheet (PDF)
